Away Games

Postby rugby33 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 6:06 pm

Was just wondering if anyone could help...my sons team was playing at Waterhead this morning, 11.30 KO..travelling from st helens we set off at 10.15am and the coach received a call at 11.10am to say the maatch was cancelled!!! We had just come off at junction 20 of the M62!!! Was cancelled as pitch was part frozen, but how come another team from st helens travelling up to Waterhead played there game (under9s)..Was just wondering what the rules on teams travelling quite a fair way then being told really late it was cancelled.

Would just depend where the pitch was situated. In shade would keep frozen - in full sun would defrost. Wouldn't have taken too much thinking between the coaches to contact each other before they set off so wouldn't blame one team over the other!!!! :D

The home team coach should go down to the pitch on the morning of the game leaving enough time to inform the away team to cancel the travelling party prior to leaving their club.

I had the same this week when I had Leyland coming over to St helens.

The kick off was 11.30 so I went down the pitch at 10am to see what the conditions was like.
This would have left enough time to inform their coach if the game had to be called off.

on the other hand it also helps sometimes to give the home coach a quick call prior to leaving as they normally have a good idea what the pitch will be like

Hi
thanks for replying, was told that the home coach had contacted the away coach prior to us leaving..just that some of the parents made there own way there and was already there when we got the call to postpone the match. Wouldnt of been so bad if the journey wasnt really out in the sticks but hey things happen!!!!
