 Cliff Williams and a group of friends are organising a motorbike ride from Lands End to John O Groats over the August Bank Holiday 2010 for charity. As they were organising the event a news article caught their attention. Andy Reid, whilst serving in Afghanistan out on patrol, stepped onto a pressure plate buried within the ground which in turn initiated an I.E.D (bomb). As result of this Andy lost both legs together with his right arm. Our aim is to enable Andy to ride a trike which is being supplied by Boom Trikes (northwest), escorted by us on 2 x Piaggio scooters supplied by MMC motorbikes from Lands End to John O’Groats over the August Bank Holiday 2010. The event should take about four days to complete, covering approximately 280 miles per day, hence the name of the charity run, NUMBUMRUN. Although this will be hard work for the able bodied riders it’s going to represent a huge milestone for the Andy making his way back to some sort of normality. We intend to ride on a publicised route and ask other bike clubs to ride along with us for that stage of the event. Andy will be riding a Boom Trike on this journey.  |
